Firefighters Battle Broad Brook Barn Blaze (Video)

Emergency crews from surrounding areas, including Ellington and Crystal Lake, responded to a large livestock barn fire on Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to a large livestock barn fire in the area of 13 Neiderwerfer Road in Broad Brook on Wednesday evening.

The Broad Brook Fire Department, Warehouse Point Fire Department, South Windsor Fire Department, Ellington Fire Department, Tolland Fire Department, Vernon Fire Department, Enfield Fire Department and Crystal Lake Fire Department all responded for assistance.

The fire was already well-involved before emergency units arrived, according to the Broad Brook Fire Department’s Facebook page. The first engine was delayed after it was redirected to come in from a different location because of a downed powerline that was believed to still having power to it, according to the department.

Due to the heat of the fire there was a possible exposure problem and that was handled by the first arriving Engine Tank.

One firefighter was transported for an evaluation and two firefighters and one civilian were evaluated at the scene and refused transport, according to the Facebook post.

A GoFundMe page has been launched to help raise funds to rebuild the farm. It raised more than $2,000 in 11 hours after being created.
