Gardening Grows the Spirit! Whether you are a seasoned gardener or are thinking about getting your hands dirty for the first time, the Ellington Farmers’ Market is the place to be on Saturday morning, May 11th. The CT chapter of Northeast Organic Farmers’ Association will be on hand to dispense advice and information about organic gardening and farming. Children can plant seeds and take home the pots to watch them sprout and grow as summer progresses. Robin Kupferschmid, master gardener at Ellington Agway, will be on hand to answer everyone's gardening questions. Shop for your Mothers' Day needs when you visit Ruth Chiveflower and her unique jewelry designs or Lori Spielman Landscaping's beautiful array of succulents and cacti. Vallid Violets offers a huge selection of gorgeous African violets, and Toes to Nose Soaps boasts a variety of fragrant gifts for mom's special day. Last Saturday's market kickoff could not have been better, with crisp blue skies and much to enjoy. Meet your friends for coffee and a sticky bun or croissant, learn something new about gardening and farming, and purchase some great local products created and sold by entrepreneurs in your own community. Don't let clouds and showers keep you away. Grab your umbrella and your reusable bags and join the fun!
