Gas Station Planned For Ellington Farm Parcel

ELLINGTON, CT — A supermarket chain is planning a gas station for a parcel of farmland on Route 83.

Big Y World Class Market has begun work on a parcel at 140 West Road, the local address for a section of land across from ther current Ellington store, planning officials said. The plan is to construct six gas pumps spread out on three islands, according to the plans.

A 12,755-square-foot building is also part of the equation for a conveneience store and another business that utilizes a drive-through lane, according to the plans.

Planning officials did not have a definite construction timetable when asked on Monday.

The Ellington Big Y is located at 135 West Road. Big Y is also planning a gas station for its Manchester store.
