House Fire Closes Portion of Route 83 in Somers
The state road was closed in the area of Billings Road due to a house fire in the vicinity, the DOT says.

A house fire on Route 83 in Somers caused a temporary shutdown of the roadway Monday morning, the Department of Transportation reported.
The fire was reported at 9:48 a.m. on South Road near the junction of Billings Road. Fire personnel reported it was a chimney fire which extended into the home.
A structure fire response was started which brought Hazardville Truck 31 and Shaker Pines Engine 52- RIT to the scene from neighboring Enfield.

A precautionary hose line was stretched while crews extinguished the fire in the fire box, checked the chimney and the home.
All units were clear of the scene at 10:49 a.m.
