Did you ever wonder how your favorite TV dancers started out? Julianne and Derek, Max and Val, and Benji and Lacey, just to name a few, all started studying Ballroom and Latin dance at a young age. North American Dance Academy in Enfield, CT is proud to present the premier Kids & Teens Ballroom and Latin dance program in the Hartford / Springfield area. Many children have the opportunity to learn ballet, jazz or tap dancing. At North American Dance Academy, you can provide your children an early start at learning Ballroom and Latin dancing.
Youth classes at North American Dance Academy are taught by world-class instructors who are dedicated to teaching every student great dance skills and sharing their own enthusiasm for dance. Classes are offered for various age groups and progressive skill levels, and no partner is necessary. The studio also provides opportunities for students to dance socially, perform and/or compete.
Ballroom and Latin dancing sit apart from traditional ballet, tap, jazz, styles because of features like dancing in partnerships and dynamically navigating the dance floor. These qualities also create special benefits for children. Social benefits include improved communication skills and increased self-confidence. Physical benefits include increased energy and improved coordination. Cognitive benefits include increased attentiveness and improved creativity in problem solving. Ballroom and Latin dancing is conditioning for the mind, body and spirit.
Students as young as 3 can begin lessons at North American Dance Academy where they learn coordination and rhythm through fun exercises and creative movements. For older students up to 18, the curriculums focus on choreography, musicality, technique and partnering. Dancers of all ages are offered the option to participate in competitions as well. Whether the goal for your child is to compete or just be able to dance socially, every student gets to showcase their skills for friends and family at the studio’s annual recital.
Want to learn more? North American Dance Academy is hosting an Open House for Kids and Teens on Saturday April 27th from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm. Enjoy dance demonstrations, a free 30 minute kids and teens group class at 1:30, and light refreshments. Instructors and current students will be on hand to answer questions or to help you register your child(ren) for the next class series beginning the week of May 6th.
