Legion Post Seeks Help In Identifying Veterans in Somers Cemeteries

The public is asked to inform American Legion Post 101 in Somers if they have a relative buried in a Somers cemetery that has not been recognized as a military veteran, either with the flag holder medallion with flag or with the U.S. Government issued and engraved flat stone marker. The Post wants to ensure that any veterans at rest in West, North or Center Cemeteries, in Somers are appropriately recognized for their service to our great country. The Post can be reached at: (888) 240-8188 or via email at: PostCdr@SomersPost101.org. When calling the Post, information which would be helpful is the name of the veteran; which cemetery they are located in; when and where they served and in which branch of the military. In order to procure the government marker, the Post will need a copy of the veteran's DD-214 or equivalent (Record of Discharge). For more information on the Post, visit our web site at: www.SomersPost101.org.
