Governance matters and success at managing a multi-million dollar budget with many diverse and competing departments/staffs while navigating the state’s fiscal crisis should be a measure of political fitness and competence.
I will stand on my record and the support I have received from the valuable town employees that make Somers a desirable place to live and raise their families. I am proud that Somers has the lowest tax rate in Tolland and Hartford Counties with break-even/positive operations in 5 of the past 6 years due to our conservative budgeting that treats taxpayer money as if it was our own money.
Town service have not been cut but have been supplemented with additional police, School resource officers ( SRO ) and our Advanced Life Support System ( ALS ) to ensure the safety and emergency response for our citizens.

Our general Fund balance is extremely healthy with over 2.5 months of operating funds in support of an economic downturn and/or potential cuts in state aid.
Somers ranks as the 17th best own out of 169 towns in Connecticut for financial stability and solid history of low debt and pension burdens.

We’ve financed our voter approved $ 10 million bond package to rebuild our roads and address needed school repairs at a 1.897 % interest rate which will effectively reduce our monthly debt service moving forward.
An up-date/re-write of our outdated Zoning regulations will serve as a springboard for controlled economic development along with the proposed redevelopment of the Somersville Mill site and the rebuilding of the Maple Street Bridge.
These successes and the vision for the future are FACTS and indicative of the open, transparent and bi-partisan hallmark of my tenure in office as well as my 50 plus years of successful executive business experience.
I feel I have earned the support of Somers citizens and I’m asking for your vote on November 5, 2019.
C.G. "Bud" Knorr, Jr.
First Selectman, Somers
