Just another example of what I would do to help Somers be a better place to live and to work:
I WOULD CREATE AN ENERGY TASK FORCE:
• I plan on creating the Town’s very first Energy Task Force so that we can increase the energy efficiency of all Town owned buildings and reduce the energy costs for the Town. While Solar Panels are a start, they are only one tiny slice of the pie and there are so many other ways to reduce energy costs and reduce the carbon footprint of Somers. I plan to include resident experts on the subject matter as well as reviewing and implementing surrounding Towns Energy Task Force Plans that already exist and are proven successful.
• This task force will also be charged with offering the businesses in Somers information on programs that they can take advantage of to reduce energy costs in their own buildings, such as C-Pace, and other Incentive programs offered by the State of CT, CEFIA and the Utility Companies.
We should be setting the example for the Town, and help our businesses to follow suit. Currently, the Town has chosen NOT to opt in to the C-Pace program, which is zero cost to the town, and zero risk - it simply provides a financial vehicle for businesses to upgrade their facilities today (windows, lighting, controls, hvac equipment, roofing, insulation, etc) with zero capital dollars spent for those that qualify.
