Manure Truck Leaves Hole in Road, Stink on Ground in Ellington
A report says a teen driver lost control of a manure truck in Ellington.

ELLINGTON, CT ―A truck carrying liquid manure hit the pavement so hard on Frog Hollow Road Tuesday that it put a hole in the pavement before spilling some of its contents, state police said.
State police completed a report on the crash Wednesday. The truck, owned by Ellington-based Oak Ridge Dairy, was being driven by a 19-year-old who simply lost control, according to a crash report.
The crash was near the Frog Hollow-Crane Road intersection. The truck was carrying 6,000-gallons of liquid manure, 3,000 of which spilled onto the road and in to an adjacent field, according to a report.

Resident John Hogan captured a photo at the scene.
"I'm used to the smell after living in Ellington for over a year now," he said of the frequent pungent aroma near the dairy farms in town. "But it was nothing compared to what I smelled yesterday. It would sting my nose sometimes."
