Men Who Saved Co-Worker's Life Are 'Heroes': Ellington Officials
The victim sustained life-threatening neck injuries, but quick response by co-workers and medical personnel saved his life.

ELLINGTON, CT — Three men who acted quickly to save a co-worker's life during a road project accident in Ellington earlier this month are being called 'heroes' by town officials.
Shawn Bull, 48, an Ellington town employee for 11 years, was severely injured June 10 when an accident with a chop saw left him with life-threatening neck injuries, including lacerations to the carotid artery and jugular vein. The incident took place during a road repair project on Maplewood Drive.
Co-worker Ronald Moser applied immediate pressure to the area while calling for his coworker, Richard Daugherty, a former Army medic. Daugherty took over while instructing a third crew member, Denis Giroux, to call 911 and request the LifeStar helicopter, officials said.

When paramedics arrived, Bull was loaded into an ambulance and transported to the helicopter, which was grounded in a field on nearby Hoffman Road. He was immediately flown to Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., where he immediately underwent surgery, officials said.
Bull was released from the hospital just four days later, and has been recuperating in the comfort of his own home, officials said.
