There are so many choices for parents of young children these days ~ it can be totally overwhelming! Things to remember ~ You don't have to do everything. Over-scheduling just makes everyone crazy. Paying a little more for a better program can be worth it in the long run. Programs that cost more often do so because there is more substance to them. If cost is an issue, ask about scholarships or bartering. Young children learn through play. Programs for young children should be developmentally appropriate, therefore should be based on play. If a program expects a 2 year old to sit nicely for even 15 minutes it's not developmentally appropriate. While sitting briefly is reasonable, toddlers and preschoolers need to move and it is inappropriate to expect them not to. Is a program interesting to you? If it is a parent/child program and YOU are not interested, your child will not be either. If it is something that you will enjoy, chances are they will too. Children look to the grown-ups they love for cues about new experiences. If you are uncomfortable or bored, they will be too. If you are engaged and having a great time, they will follow along!
This fall at Arts from the Heart, llc, we will be offering Music Together, Little Yoga and Imagination Workshops along with a range of other activities. When planning your schedule, consider spending some time in our community ~ we'd be glad to have you!
