Rep. Davis Renews Call to Tighten Laws Against Child Abusers
Rep. Christopher Davis, representing Ellington, testified before the legislature's Committee on Children on House Bill 5402.

From the Connecticut General Assembly: The legislature’s Committee on Children held a public hearing on a variety of bills on Thursday, which included House Bill 5402, introduced by State Representative Christopher Davis. The legislation seeks to combat child pornography and sex trafficking.
Rep. Davis’ proposal would require individuals that repair cameras, computers, or other personal electronic devices, like cell phones, to report to law enforcement if they come across evidence of abuse or neglect during their normal course of business.
“Child pornography and sex trafficking is a heinous crime,” said Rep. Davis. “It is my belief that by passing this law, we can help prevent future cases and potentially help catch perpetrators of these deplorable crimes before another child is abused. If we can save one child from these horrors, passing this bill will be worth it.”

Last year, Rep. Davis introduced this bill, which unanimously passed out of the Judiciary Committee but failed to get brought to the House Floor for a vote. This bill now awaits a vote by the Committee on Children.
