2nd Suspect Charged With Murder In Somers Killing
Authorities say the arrest stems from the August 2021 death of a Massachusetts man found on Durkee Road.
SOMERS, CT — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the 2021 homicide of a Massachusetts man whose body was found in a remote section of Somers, state police announced.
On Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, members of the Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad, Bureau of Special Investigations, Emergency Services Unit and Southington Police Department arrested Zachary Joseph Apt, 34, at his residence in Southington, according to records.

Apt is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit third-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping with a firearm, and tampering with physical evidence.

He is being held on a $2.5 million court-set bond and is scheduled to appear Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, in Rockville Superior Court for arraignment. The arrest warrant remains sealed.
The homicide occurred Aug. 5, 2021, at about 10:25 a.m. on Durkee Road in Somers. The victim was identified as Jason Comes, 38, of Wilbraham, Massachusetts.

The arrest marks the second in the case. On Wednesday, Feb. 19, Timothy Lange, 35, of New Britain, was taken into custody in Haddam on a warrant charging him with felony murder, first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit first-degree kidnapping, first-degree accessory to kidnapping, first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and accessory to first-degree robbery.
Lange, identified by authorities as a known member of the Outlaws motorcycle gang, was held on a $1.5 million court-set bond and was slated to be arraigned in Rockville Superior Court. His arrest warrant is also sealed.
State police previously said the investigation remains active and has involved assistance from Homeland Security Investigations, the Enfield Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.
