Slates For Selectmen, School And Finance Boards Set In Somers

SOMERS, CT — With several top officials opting not to run for re-election this fall, and a few others not nominated for another term by their party, a number of fresh faces will be appearing on the municipal election ballot in Somers this fall.

Republican First Selectman Bud Knorr is not seeking re-election, so the party nominated Selectman Tim Keeney for first selectman and Board of Finance member William Meier for selectman. Democratic Selectman Tim Potrikus is also not running for another term; he is being replaced on the ballot by Robert Schmidt.

The Board of Education will see sweeping changes following election day. Two incumbent Republicans, chairman Bruce Devlin and Sarah Bollinger, were not nominated for another term. The Republicans will be represented by candidates Carl Stebbins, Kim Radziewicz, Catherine Embriano, Michael Briggs ad Chris Thiesing. They will be opposed by Democratic incumbent Jan Martin and newcomers Ed DePeau, Dorothy Ruggiero, Mary Shannon Kelleher and Christophe Eustis.

Incumbent Republican James Persano and Democrat Bill Salka seek to retain their seats on the Board of Finance, with Democrat Mike Strietelmeier also hoping for a spot.

Election Day is Nov. 2.
