Printmaking: Long before computers and copy machines, things were printed by hand.Artists still do that! In this class, we will make original artwork that multiplies when we print it by hand! We will make stencils and stamps and use found and funny objects, foam and even textured collages to create beautiful things including cards
and wrapping paper….we will even print on clay pots and T-shirts*!!!
(*Bring at least one plain t-shirt to print on…or more if you want to!)
For those in grade 5 through Adult, classes next week include:
BOOKS: In this age of texting and Facebook, a welcome break can be had by opening a book. Or even better, by making your own! In this course we will explore visual storytelling along with bookmaking techniques to create unique pieces of art. Traditional and experimental structures will be demonstrated; drawing, painting, lettering and collage are a few of the techniques to be explored. Come have fun bringing your stories to life this summer!
CLAY A: These courses are designed for the art student who has some clay experience but would like to explore new or different techniques! A fun, creative introduction to handbuliding and/or wheel throwing, all ideas, both sculptural and functional are encouraged!! Clay A will cover underglazing (applying color to wet clay) and texturing of surfaces. Clay B will allow for more in-depth wheel and overglaze exploration. Finished work will be dried and fired at the end of Clay A to be picked up as is -- or will be stored to be worked on and glazed in Clay B the following week.
PAINTING: This class will focus on the element of color in a multitude of painting media. Students will create original work in a variety of media such as watercolor, tempera and acrylic on special papers and canvas, and will explore all the nuances each medium has to offer. Experienced students will enjoy stretching their skills with new techniques. If you love color, you will love learning new ways to use it!
