Somers Baseball Falls to Manchester National

The Manchester National 10-11 year-old District 8 All-Star team scored enough runs early and held on to defeat host Somers 7-3.

Ben Mushinski got things going in the first inning for Manchester National, knocking in two runs with a single to left. Brendan Reilly also added two RBI with a sacrifice fly to the fence in center field in the first and a single to center in the second. 

Alex Fitzgerald, Gio Carone, Jovani Gonzalez and Joey Pearl each added timely doubles during the game. 

Manchester National got a complete game on the mound from Austin Martin, who also helped himself at the plate with a single and two runs scored. 

Somers pitcher Jeff Suschana pitched valiantly for 5 1/3 innings.

Somers (0-3) plays Tolland on Tuesday. Manchester National (1-2) plays Ellington on Saturday.
