Somers Boys Prevail in Class S Lacrosse Final
Seven-goal outburst in third quarter propels Spartans to fourth state championship.
NORWALK, CT - Years ending in the number 6 are very friendly to the Somers High School boys lacrosse program.
For the third straight decade, the Spartans captured a state championship in a "6" year, coming from behind to topple St. Joseph 14-8 in the Class S final Saturday at Brien McMahon High School.
Somers also won the Class S title in 2006, and the Division II championship in 1996 and 1997.

Christian Paley led the attack with eight goals, including five in a row over the final eight and a half minutes of the third quarter which capped a stretch of seven straight Spartan tallies.
Somers held St. Joseph scoreless for the entire third quarter, and for a 19:31 stretch from the midpoint of the second quarter until early in the fourth.

Michael Munson had three goals for the Spartans, Dante Giachello had two and Jacob Phillips one.
Munson and Dom Giachello each had two assists, with Paley, Dante Giachello and Riley Burgmyer contributing one apiece.
Netminder Christopher Allen earned the victory, stopping five Cadet shots.
