Somers Bridge Replacement Project Heads To Public Meeting
The proposed Somers project includes possible easements on nearby private property and a construction start in 2028.
SOMERS, CT — A virtual public information meeting has been scheduled this month on a planned replacement of the Winwood Circle bridge over Wrights Brook in Somers.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation said the meeting will be held Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Registration is required through the state project page.
The meeting is intended to give residents and other community members a chance to ask questions and submit comments on the proposal. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation, and the meeting will be recorded.

“Safety at this crossing will be enhanced with the installation of a new structure that will meet current design and safety standards,” CTDOT Project Manager Hayley Martin said in a statement. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
CTDOT said right-of-way impacts are expected on abutting private properties, including drainage work and temporary construction easements tied to the bridge replacement.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2028, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition and permit approvals. The estimated cost is about $2 million, with the project expected to be funded through 80 percent federal money and 20 percent state money.
