Somers, Ellington and Fermi Runners Qualify for State Open Cross Country Championships
Two girls and a boy from those local schools will be competing at Wickham Park next Friday.

Runners from Somers, Ellington and Fermi high schools will be competing next Friday in the State Open cross country championships at Wickham Park in Manchester.
The athletes each qualified for the Open as individuals based on their performances in the class meets Saturday, also at Wickham Park.

Ava Roche of Somers, fresh off her victory in the NCCC championships a week earlier, placed fourth in Class S to earn a spot in the Open. She will be joined by Sydney Nash of Fermi, who finished 10th in Class M.
On the boys’ side, David Clavet of Ellington finished fifth in Class M to earn his spot in the Open.

The top two teams in each of the six classes make it into the Open, as do the top 12 individuals in each class plus the 30 best times overall that finished out of the top 12.
