Somers Scarecrow Festival Returns, Bigger And Better
In addition to scarecrows, this year's event includes a pumpkin carving contest, car show, farmers and crafters market, contests and games.

SOMERS, CT — A bigger and better Somers Scarecrow Festival returns for its second year, albeit in a different location, on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Four Town Fairgrounds on Egypt Road.
This year, festival organizers have partnered with a farmers and crafters market, with close to 100 artisans on hand. A car show will also be part of the festivities, which include food trucks, a live band, Star Wars characters, Jurassic Park jeep rides, a magician, balloon art, face painting, glitter tattoos, a bounce house, reptile show, a kids costume contest and a festival-wide scavenger hunt. Paw Safe of Ellington will be on hand with adoptable dogs.
In addition to the scarecrow contest, a pumpkin carving contest will also be conducted, with entries open only to Somers residents. Anyone looking to submit a scarecrow or pumpkin should visit the festival's Facebook page to see the rules and to register. All pumpkins and scarecrows must be dropped off at the fairgrounds on Oct. 22 between 3-8 p.m.
