State Rep For Ellington, East Windsor Will Not Seek Re-election
Rep. Christopher Davis announced Sunday he will not seek a sixth term representing the 57th District in the General Assembly.

ELLINGTON-EAST WINDSOR, CT — State Representative Christopher Davis (R– Ellington) announced Sunday he will not seek a sixth term in the Connecticut House of Representatives for the 57th Assembly District, which includes Ellington and most of East Windsor.
"I am truly humbled and grateful every day for the opportunity to represent the people of East Windsor and Ellington in the State House," Davis said in a written statement. "This was not an easy decision due to my love and passion for bettering our community and state. However, after many weeks of consideration, I have chosen not to seek another two-year term in the State House."
Davis was first elected to the 57th District seat in 2010, and currently serves as an Assistant Republican Leader and Ranking Member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding committees. He is also a member of the Energy & Technology and Executive & Legislative Nominations committees.

He had received the unanimous endorsement of the Republican party at its nominating convention in May. The party will now select a new candidate to run for the seat in this November’s election.
Davis cited family reasons for his decision to step out of the political arena.

"As the pandemic has changed our ways of life across the globe, I have had the opportunity to spend much desired time with my family that I otherwise would not have been able to do while both working and serving in the legislature," he wrote. "It has become evident that spending more time with my family is of the utmost importance to me, and would not be possible if I served another two years in our citizen legislature. Serving in the House of Representatives has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences of my life. I will very much miss representing the people of East Windsor and Ellington, but look forward to continuing to serve them during the remainder of my term as we seek to address the ongoing public health emergency, economic recovery and looming budget crisis in the coming weeks and months."
Davis, who turns 34 in August, currently practices real estate in the greater Hartford area and is an adjunct professor of political science at the University of Bridgeport. Raised in East Windsor, he resides in Ellington with his wife, Emily, and daughter, Evelyn.
