Super Bowl Violence Leads To Felony Charge In Ellington: Warrant
An Ellington man is facing a felony charge in a domestic violence case, state police said.

ELLINGTON, CT — An Ellington man is facing a felony charge in a domestic violence case, state police said.
Dakota James Akerley, 25, was charged on Feb. 4 via a warrant with first-degree unlawful restraint, a Class D felony in Connecticut. Akerley was also charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
The victim in the case is listed as a 22-year-old woman. According to an arrest warrant, the woman went to the Ellington Resident State Trooper's Office on Feb. 4 to report multiple domestic violence outbreaks involving Akerley.

The woman had injuries to an ear, hand and foot and a scratch on her face, according to a warrant.
According to a warrant, the woman told police that the incident leading to the complaint took place on Super Bowl Sunday. The woman told police she and Akerley were drinking during the game and the 5-foot-10, 275-pound Akerley allegedly grabbed her by the hair and punched her several times in the head while leaning on her, thus restricting her movement, according to a warrant.

He backed off after the woman began to "slap and punch" him, according to a warrant.
Akerley posted a $30,000 surety bond in the case at his arraignment and is due back in court on March 14, judicial system records indicate.
