The 'Million Muslim March'. Ill-timed and Misled
In this installment of 'A View From the Deck', J. Wiley Dumas calls for the organizers of the 'Million Muslim March' to condemn the violent actions of radical Islam
NOTE: The following is OPINION. It is the Point of View of the author, and he alone takes all responsibility for the content therein
On September 11th of this year, We, the People, will remember. We will remember the unprecedented attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the brave actions of the passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 back in 2001.
We will also observe one full year since the brutal attack on the U.S Mission in Benghazi, Libya in which Ambassador Chris Stevens and 3 other Americans died in what was proclaimed by the current administration as fallout over an anti-Islam video, which We, the People, now know to be a blatant lie.

(One full year and still no believable answers)
There’s no need here to rehash the words and actions of Susan Rice, nor is there any reason to remind you of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s callous “What difference does it make?” remark.

As I said, most of us on this day take the time to remember.
But news has come out that another group plans to commemorate September 11th …in a different way.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you ‘The Million Muslim March.’
That’s correct. On the day that commemorates two of America’s most ingrained attacks of terrorism by Islamic extremists, Muslims are going to march and declare, are ya ready for this?, that they are the true victims of September 11th.
(Expletive Deleted)
Seriously? The ‘true’ victims?
Most Muslims in this country follow the peaceful teachings of the prophet Mohammed and the Holy Koran; they lead non-violent lives and do their best to not be associated with the actions of radical Islamic fundamentalists, actions that have resulted in thousands of dead all over the globe. They will tell you that true ‘Jihad’, or ‘Holy War,’ is a spiritual conflict that one goes through within their own life, striving to adhere to the correct way of living.
But one thing that Islam, the true Islam, the peaceful, non-violent, normal, everyday, run-of –the-mill Islam has not done in all this time, is to apologize and condemn the actions of the radical fundamentalists within the faith.
And there’s no indication that this will occur during the Million Muslim March.
Rather, the organizers of this event are trying to “raise awareness of how Muslims have been tormented, criminalized, and persecuted in the United States since the unfortunate events of September 11th, 2001.”
Excuse me? Tormented? Persecuted? If anything, most Americans have become increasingly tolerant of the followers of Islam more so than ever before. Even more tolerant of Islam than they are toward Christianity and Judaism.
It wasn’t Muslim Martyrs throwing themselves out of the windows of the World Trade Center to certain death while in flames. It wasn’t Muslim Martyrs that wrested control away from radicals aboard United Flight 93.
It wasn’t Muslim Martyrs that were drug out of the Mission in Benghazi, tortured, mutilated, and then killed, their bodies put on public display.
And it certainly wasn’t Muslim Martyrs that were killed, maimed, and injured one fine April day in Boston, now was it?
No, it was people of all faiths, all walks of life. It was innocents. None of them had any aspirations toward martyrdom.
I don’t recall any incidents of Mosques being burned in this country following the events of September 11th, 2001. I don’t remember any cases of mobs beating followers of Islam.
But I do seem to recall that in each of the events I mentioned, and in others, that the instigators were radical Islamic fundamentalists that victimized and terrorized the innocent.
And yet we are supposed to have ‘persecuted, criminalized, and tormented’ Muslims in this country. Really? Who persecuted who? Who tormented who?
Who was really victimized?
My sincere hope is that those followers of Islam that take part in this (seriously mistimed) march will do what they have never done before and state that they do not support the actions of a fringe element of the Islamic faith that has killed thousands of innocents. It is way past time for Muslims here, and everywhere, to condemn the actions of those that have perverted the Word of the Holy Koran and the peaceful teachings of the Prophet.
But something tells me that I stand a better chance of winning Powerball than that ever occurring.
