The first annual Zucchini 500 showcased incredible creative talent and ingenuity among the over 30 participants on Sat. Aug. 3rd at the Ellington Farmers' Market. Everything from a Cinderella coach made from a round zucchini to a chicken car complete with feathers and an eggshell cab competed for a variety of prizes including most creative, most nutritious and fastest in both adult and child classes. A large crowd gathered and cheered as the cars zipped down a 21 foot ramp. One spectator stated "this is the most fun I've had on a Saturday morning in years!" The race was so well received and enjoyed that a pumpkin and winter squash race in being organized for the fall. Stay tuned for additional information and start your engines!!
