Zumba Classes Coming to Somers This Fall

Zumbatomic for the kids and Zumba Gold for the active adults are programs being offered by the Somers Recreation Department.

This fall, there will be some new activities for Somers residents to try out, brought to them by the .

One of these programs is Zumbatomic, which is Zumba specifically designed for kids ages four through 12. The classes are high-energy fitness-parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines and all the music kids love, like hip-hop, reggaeton, cumbia and more.

Zumbatomic rounds out family fitness goals by giving parents a great reason to head to the gym – for themselves, for their kids, for a totally fun family experience.

The class fee is $30 for the four week program. Space is limited so pre-registration is required. To register, please contact the Recreation Department at 860-763-4379 or stop in at 19 Battle Street.

Also in the Zumba vein is Zumba Gold for the older folks. This program targets the largest growing segment of the population: baby boomers. It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle.

What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba fitness-party is known for: the zesty Latin music, like salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton, the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves, and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. It’s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly, and most of all, fun.

This program runs for four Tuesdays, starting on Sept. 15. The class will begin at 4:15 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. in the Kibbe Fuller gym. The fee is $25 for the four classes.
