1 Killed, 2 Injured in I-91 Crash in Enfield

The Sunday night crash forced closure of the highway for several hours while Connecticut State Police investigated.

One person was killed and two others seriously injured in a car crash on southbound I-91 near Exit 49 in Enfield.

The crash, which happened about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, closed the highway until about 1:30 a.m. Monday, according to WWLP. Connecticut State Police said the driver of a 2002 Honda Accord crashed into a metal beam guide rail, causing the car to overturn, ejecting the driver and two passengers, according to the WWLP report.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers were taken to area hospitals for serious injuries.
