200 Pounds Of Pot Seized From Truck, Enfield Storage Unit
State police nabbed a Manchester man with 200 pounds of pot and other drugs in Enfield.
ENFIELD/MANCHESTER — State police nabbed a stash of marijuana about double the weight of a Kentucky Derby jockey on Monday after a traffic stop in Enfield involving a Manchester man.
State police released the details of the case on Wednesday.
On Monday at 4:40 p.m., state troopers from Troop H in Hartford conducted a motor vehicle stop on a U-Haul box truck being operated by Joseph Courtney, 30, of Manchester in the area of Elm Street in Enfield.

State police had developed probable cause that the vehicle might contain "contraband," and a subsequent search involving members of CSP-Statewide Narcotics Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations led to the seizure of approximately 200 pounds of packaged marijuana, assorted vape cartridges and $7,500 in U.S. currency, according to a report.
Courtney as well as his passenger, 62-year-old Maurice Sherman, were taken into custody on various narcotics charges, according to a report.

Investigators obtained additional information that the arrestees may have been traveling to a self-storage unit in Enfield and secured a warrant for Public Storage at 115 Elm St. Investigators located $190 in currency, 3 pounds of Psilocybin mushrooms, 5 pounds of marijuana, THC vape cartridges, THC wax and packaging material at the unit, according to a report.
Additional charges by warrant will be forthcoming, state police said.
Sherman had his initial $100,000 bond reduced to $75,000 and he posted it, records show. He is due back in court on June 4, records show.
Courtney posted a $50,000 bond after it was cut in half in court. He is due back before a judge on May 28, records show.
