ACC Observes Domestic Violence Awareness Week
Asnuntuck Community College will be observing Domestic Violence Awareness Week in a variety of ways.
Asnuntuck Community College will be observing Domestic Violence Awareness Week in a variety of ways. Information regarding support services will be set-up on Tuesday, October 3rd and Thursday, October 5th in Asnuntuck’s Tower Lobby.
The Clothesline Project, created on Cape Cod, MA in 1990, allows women affected by violence to express their emotions on a tee-shirt that will then be displayed on a clothesline to be viewed by others. The project will take place between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on October 3rd in Asnuntuck’s Tower Lobby. Students are invited to participate.
On October 4th from 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Faith Ward will conduct an Art and Healing workshop to help students who have experienced any type trauma in their life (sexual assault, domestic violence, car accident, etc.). Coping mechanisms will be discussed and guided creative activities will be a part of the workshop. Please RSVP to Yhara Zelinka prior to the event (yzelinka@asnuntuck.edu).

The public is invited to attend a Candlelight Vigil on October 4th from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at Asnuntuck. The evening will include testimonies, poetry reading and songs. The event is in partnership with The Network, Sexual Assault Crisis Service and Enfield Together Coalition.
The public is also invited to visit an art exhibit by Lyssa Moro on display this month in Asnuntuck’s Tower Lobby.
