Heat, Weather Update For Enfield High Graduation

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield High School’s Class of 2026 graduation ceremony is still expected to proceed as planned Thursday evening, though school officials said a final decision will be announced around 1 p.m.

The ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, on the Enfield High School athletic field. Admission is by wristband only.

In a Thursday morning update, officials said the current forecast looked “promising” for the ceremony to take place as scheduled, but that the district would continue monitoring the weather. If updated information shows a greater chance of severe or disruptive weather, plans may be changed and communicated to families.

The final decision is expected to be shared around 1 p.m., regardless of whether the ceremony proceeds as planned or is postponed.

Officials also warned families to prepare for hot conditions, particularly on the turf field. Graduates and guests are strongly encouraged to bring water. For security reasons, only sealed, clear bottles of water will be allowed.

Bottled water will be available for purchase, and complimentary water will be available at hydration stations, according to the update.

Parking will be available at Enfield High School, Eagle Academy and Enfield Street School. Additional parking will be available at St. Bernard’s School, where shuttle service to Enfield High School will begin at 4 p.m.

For those parking farther from the field, shuttle service will also be available from designated stops at the main entrance in front of the school and at the gym entrance behind the building.

The lower lot next to the turf field will be reserved for handicapped parking. Parking will not be allowed before 4 p.m., and guests with wristbands will not be admitted to the seating area until 4:30 p.m.

Guests are asked to have their wristbands securely attached to their wrists before arriving to help speed up entry.

Bags are discouraged. Only clear plastic bags or small clutch purses and wallets no larger than 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches will be allowed, and all bags are subject to search, according to the district.

Food and beverages are not permitted, except for sealed, clear plastic water bottles. Noisemakers, signs, posters, banners, beach balls, balloons and confetti also are prohibited.

If the ceremony is postponed because of weather, it will be moved to the following day and rescheduled daily as needed until it can be held outdoors, school officials said.

Student speakers are expected to include Valedictorian Anthony Mammano, Salutatorian Bridget Kelly and Class President Olivia Nuccio.
