Armed Robbers Target Enfield Smoke Shop

A pair of bandits, one armed with a pistol, robbed a Route 5 shop Monday night.

ENFIELD, CT — A pair of men, one of whom brandished a gun, robbed a Route 5 smoke shop Monday night, escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash and other items.

The robbery at the Smoke Zone shop at 21 Enfield Street was reported at 9:48 p.m. A store clerk said two men entered the shop, with one showing a pistol, and stole cash, store merchandise and the clerk's wallet, Deputy Police Chief Gary Collins said.

A police canine unit was called to attempt to track the suspects, but they had fled in a vehicle, Collins said.

The suspect with the gun was described as a 6-foot tall man, wearing a black mask, black gloves and a black hoodie. No description was provided of the second suspect.
