Basement Fire Quickly Contained in Enfield Home

One occupant was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.

ENFIELD, CT — Firefighters from throughout town quickly contained a basement fire at a Fairfield Road home Friday afternoon.

The fire at 31 Fairfield Road was reported at 3:01 p.m., prompting mutual aid response from all five Enfield fire departments, and was deemed under control at 3:20 p.m., according to Mark Zarcaro, public information officer for the fire departments of Enfield.

Three occupants of the home got out, with one treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, Zarcaro said.

Minor damage was reported to the basement. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Zarcaro said the home did not contain working smoke detectors, which he stressed is a necessity.
