Bay Path University presents "Once on This Island"

Written by the songwriting team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (who brought you “Seussical,” “Ragtime” and “Rocky the Musical”), “Once on This Island” is a contemporary retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid” with a Caribbean twist. Heartbreakingly, the musical boasts no mermaids or singing crabs; the aquatic divisions that once thwarted Ariel and Prince Eric have been replaced with a class division in Haiti that Ti Moune and Daniel must surmount. A song and dance number can fix that, right?

Performances run November 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 7:30pm and November 16 and 23 at 2:00pm in Mills Theatre (588 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106). The production is 90 minutes and is appropriate for children ages 10 and older.
