Bob's Store In Enfield to Be Shuttered
After more than four decades in Enfield, the retailer is closing its store in the Enfield Commons shopping center.

ENFIELD, CT — After more than 40 years of service to the Enfield community, Bob's Stores will soon be closing its location in the Enfield Commons shopping center.
One of the main tenants of the plaza for many years, Bob's "is being redeveloped into a Homesense and ULTA," according to a post on the web site of Paramount Realty Services, owner of the property.
Signs posted on the building facade and windows read "Store Closing - Everything Must Go!" and "Entire Store On Sale."

Property manager Roy Ranous did not immediately respond to an email from Patch seeking information about a closing date for Bob's and opening dates for the new businesses.
Known for its vast selection of footwear, workwear, teamwear and activewear, Bob's was founded in 1954 in Middletown by Bob Lapidus. His second location opened in a small plaza on South Road in Enfield in 1975, then moved to the Enfield Plaza before settling on Hazard Avenue.

At its peak, Bob's operated in nearly 50 locations. The company went bankrupt in 2003, and was acquired by TJX Companies, owners of, among others, TJ Maxx.
TJX also owns Homesense, which specializes in home furnishings, selling products that range from low end to name brand.
Ulta Beauty is an Illinois-based chain of stores which carries cosmetics and skincare brands, men's and women's fragrances and haircare products. Each store is also equipped with a salon.
