On Campus - Enfield College Students

ENFIELD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• The Communication Department at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual Celebration of Excellence on April 19. During the event, students were inducted into the communication honor society, Lambda Pi Eta, and awards were given for excellence in different areas of the communication field. Among the inductees and award winners was Matthew Stroiney of Enfield. Stroiney was inducted into the honor society.
• Eastern Connecticut State University recognized the academic achievements of African, Latino, Asian and Native American students on May 5 during its sixth annual Inclusive Excellence Awards ceremony. Award were given out and more than 200 students were recognized for achieving GPAs of 3.5 or higher.
  Jessica Merluzzi of Enfield was given the Academic Achievement Award. Merluzzi majors in Business Administration.
• Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual induction ceremony for Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociology honor society, on May 4. Jessica Miclon of Enfield, who majors in English and Sociology, was one of the inductees. The mission of Alpha Kappa Delta is to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems and other social and intellectual activities that lead to improvement in the human condition. Eligible students must hold a ranking of at least a junior, rank in the top 35 percent of their graduating class in general scholarship or must have accumulated the equivalent of an overall grade point average of at least 3.3. They also must have maintained the equivalent of a 3.0 GPA in sociology courses taken at the host institution prior to initiation.
