ENFIELD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Asnuntuck Community College, Enfield CT

  • The NASA CT Space Grant Consortium has awarded scholarships to five Connecticut Community College students in recognition of their academic goals and achievements. Each student will receive $1,500 for study at their respective community colleges. To qualify, students must be attending a CT SGC affiliate institution full-time, pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM), and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Heidi Pokorny is the recipient from Asnuntuck.

  • On May 16, Eastern Connecticut State University awarded degrees to 60 graduate students.
    Rebecca Husovsky of Enfield received a graduate degree in Secondary Education.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Wind Ensemble recently presented a concert in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center. One of the performers was Emily Miclon of Enfield. Miclon, who played percussion in the concert, majors in Political Science. Conducted by Kelly Watkins, the ensemble presented a collection of pieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams, John Philip Sousa, Ronald Lo Presti and Gustav Holst.
