Campus Notes - Enfield College Students

ENFIELD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Bryant University, Smithfield RI

• Anthony DiPace of Enfield placed in the top 10 percent nationally among 31,995 students from 414 institutions on the Educational Testing Service Major Field Test in Business. He received a Certificate of Achievement in Business Education - Superior Achievement from the university.

Castleton University, Castleton VT

• Freshman Alex Jensen of Enfield was recently featured as the subject of a lengthy feature story in the campus newspaper, the Castleton Spartan, about his transformation from a skinny 128-pound high school sophomore to a powerlifter who just set a personal deadlift record of 507 pounds in a recent competition. Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven CT

• Freshman Jessica Maier of Enfield, a member of the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team, has been named a Scholar of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The Division II Scholars of Distinction program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. In all, 66 student-athletes from Division II programs were recognized for achieving this academic benchmark.
• Ten members of the Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. Among the honorees is Jessica Maier of Enfield.
