ENFIELD, CT — Here are some recent notable achievements for college students from Enfield, as reported by readMedia Newswire.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Thirteen Eastern Connecticut State University students recently attended the Region I Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT, where they attended theatre workshops and competed in acting and design competitions. Theatre faculty members Ellen Brodie, J.J. Cobb and Chase Rozelle accompanied the students. Among the students was Caraline Gartrell of Enfield, who majors in Communication and Theatre.
- A talented cast and crew of Eastern Connecticut State University students recently performed in "Two Gentlemen of Verona," the second Main Stage production of the 2016-17 academic year. The Shakespearean musical included Alexis Schacht of Enfield, who was a member of the ensemble. Schacht majors in Theatre. The play was an adaptation of Shakespeare's early comedy about young people exploring love, friendship and the temptations of city life. It ran from Feb. 23 to March 5 and was the first Eastern production to feature a live band of musicians in the pit of the new Proscenium Theatre.
Manchester Community College, Manchester CT

- A dozen students from Enfield received academic honors at Manchester Community College for the fall 2016 semester. Haley Baillargeon, Allycia Besner, Lindley Bower, Beata Gdula-Belzak, Heather Hmieleski and Linda Moua were named to the President's list, while Brooke Ewing, Sandra Hamideh, Jillian Huey, Anna Kusta, Caitlyn Passmore, Christopher Piekos and James Stuart were named to the Dean's list.
Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY
- A pair of residents made the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for fall semester 2016-2017. They are Nick Bialka, who is studying in the applied computer technology program, and Nicholas Orefice, who is studying in the management information systems program. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
