Charges Filed In Racial Incident During Enfield High School Fundraiser
A racially charged incident during an annual football fundraiser for EHS has led to charges being filed against a local man.

ENFIELD, CT — A 22-year-old Enfield man has been charged in connection with an August incident in which and Enfield High School football player claimed to have a racial slur and threats hurled at him during a town wide fundraiser.
Police records show that Christopher Oliver has been charged with second-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias and breach of peace, risk of injury, and second-degree threatening. He has a Friday court sate and a $20,000 bond was assigned to the case.
The incident involved a a 14-year-old student-athlete, who was on Haynes Street in Enfield on Aug. 13 during the football team's annual "Blitz Card" fundraiser, police and school administrators said in August.

That day, members of the EHS football squad — in uniform — were going door-to-door for the campaign. One student approached a home and a resident declined to participate, school administrators said. The student told coaches and parents that a resident at the home uttered a racial slur and other comments that made him feel "threatened" and "intimidated," administrators said.
Enfield police chief Alaric Fox said police began investigating the incident. Case records show the threat involved potentially shooting the boy.

According to a warrant, Oliver admitted using a racial slur to tell the youth to vacate the property, but he also told police he owned no firearms.
