Charles Abissi Sr., 92; Decorated World War II Veteran, Enfield Resident
Calling hours and the funeral Mass are scheduled for Saturday, June 27.

Charles Abissi Sr., 92, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Cecelia (Licardo) Abissi, joined our Lord peacefully on Wednesday (June 24, 2015) at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford.
Born in New York, NY on January 20, 1923 son of the late John and Anna (Marciante) Abissi and lived in Enfield for the past 60 years.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the World War II and was honorably discharge on February 5, 1946. He was awarded the Silver Star and five battle stars. He received the Purple Heart, the American Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and served in both the European and Pacific Theaters.
After the war he was employed for Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks and for Kaman Corporation in Bloomfield before retiring. Charles Sr. was a parishioner of Holy Family Church, Enfield. He enjoyed playing cards, billiards and golfed.

He leaves two children, Charlene A. Paluck and her husband, David in Enfield and Charles Abissi Jr. of Shelton; a sister, Josephine Spina of Ronkonkoma, NY; three grandchildren, Katherine, Kristina and Izabela Abissi and several nieces and nephews and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Dianna C. Abissi.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, June 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. The United States Army will present military honors at Holy Family Church. His family will receive friends on Friday, June 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
