Construction Begins On New O'Reilly Auto Parts Store In Enfield
Demolition of the old Webster Bank building in Scitico is underway after the building has sat vacant for about eight years.

ENFIELD, CT — After sitting vacant for the past eight years, the old Webster Bank building in the Scitico section of Enfield has finally been knocked down, to soon be replaced by a new O'Reilly Auto Parts store.
The bank branch at 561 Hazard Ave. closed in 2014, and O'Reilly Automotive Stores Inc. bought the 0.77-acre property for $525,000 in June 2017, according to town land records. On Oct. 4, 2018, the Enfield Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved a special permit application for construction of a 7,218 square foot store.
A permit was issued Wednesday for the complete demolition and removal of the existing building and foundation. A building permit, issued in Sept. 2020, calls for pre-engineered metal construction, measuring 25 feet total height with a hip roof line. Facade materials include brick and clapboard siding, and site construction plans include a new drive aisle, parking lot and minor landscaping, according to Nelson Tereso, Enfield director of economic & community development
