Construction Begins On New Popeyes Restaurant In Enfield
Known for its spicy chicken and seafood entrees, the restaurant chain consists of more than 3,400 franchised locations worldwide.

ENFIELD, CT — Land clearing has begun for construction of a new Popeyes Restaurant at 90 Elm Street, on a parcel adjacent to the recently-closed Outback Steakhouse.
The 2,300 square foot restaurant, which will include a drive-thru, was unanimously approved by the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency on April 6, 2021. Following a May 13 public hearing by the Planning & Zoning Commission, the project also received unanimous approval.
Formally known as Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc., the new location will be built just to the west of the vacant Outback building, which closed in late January after more than a dozen years in town. The restaurant serves chicken dishes in mild and spicy flavors, as well as seafood entrees like shrimp and catfish.
