Convicted Felon From Enfield Indicted By Grand Jury
He had been involved in a shooting on Alden Avenue in March, according to police.

HARTFORD, CT — A convicted felon residing in Enfield has been indicted by a federal grand jury, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
Nathaniel Rodriguez, 23, appeared Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez in Hartford and entered a plea of not guilty to the charge. He was ordered detained pending trial., according to John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
If convicted of the offense, Rodriguez faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years, Durham said.

The indictment alleges that on Jan. 27, 2019, Rodriguez possessed a loaded M&P Bodyguard .380 caliber handgun. Prior to that date, he had been convicted in Massachusetts for felony firearms, assault, drug and witness intimidation offenses, Durham said.
Rodriguez was arrested on state charges by Hartford police on Jan. 27 and was subsequently released on bond. He has been detained since March 29, when he was arrested in Enfield in an unrelated case, Durham said.

The Enfield case involved Rodriguez and a man who was shot in the leg outside Rodriguez's home on Alden Avenue. He was originally charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree assault with a firearm, altering ID marking on a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm without a permit and possession of narcotics.
Those charges have since been amended to criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. He remains in custody in lieu of $750,000 bond, according to judicial records.
