Cop Footage Shows Mass Air Wing, Enfield PD Snagging Fleeing Driver

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield police and Massachusetts state police Wednesday teamed up to snag a driver who was trying to elude authorities across state lines on Interstate 91.

The scene, captured on an aircraft dash camera and released by police, unraveled when Enfield Police were notified about a vehicle that had fled from state police across the border.

The MSP Air Wing was able to track the vehicle and call out its location as it approached the Connecticut state line, authorities said.

EPD officers were then able to slow down southbound traffic, ultimately causing the fleeing vehicle to significantly decrease its speed, authorities said. The police footage shows that, in a last ditch effort to get away, the driver attempted to utilize the breakdown lane to pass the slowing traffic, only to encounter Enfield officers, who successfully deployed a tire deflation device.

The driver attempted to flee at a high rate of speed with the air wing still overhead, but the vehicle ultimately lost a tire just south of Exit 46 and became disabled, the footage shows.

The footage shows the driver and a passenger exiting the vehicle, but then diving onto the ground to surrender with an EPD canine unit approaching them on the shoulder. Police had not yet released charges late Thursday afternoon.
