CT State Asnuntuck faculty member Carol LaLiberte wanted her students to have accessibility to a textbook with a student-centered voice.
CT State Asnuntuck faculty member Carol LaLiberte wanted her students to have accessibility to a textbook with a student-centered voice. As a reviewer for Goodheart-Wilcox, LaLiberte was pleased when the publisher’s acquisition editor approached her and asked her to author a textbook for their newly launched early childhood division.
She decided to hit the keyboard and create a product that she and others could use in their classroom. The educator took three years to write the book. “It has been an interesting experience for sure,” said LaLiberte. Her final product is titled “The Developing Teacher: Guiding Students from Practicum to Profession”. She said that the final product is an inviting read for students. She said the publisher has also enhanced the textbook’s information with videos that students can view.
LaLiberte is the Department Chair for Careers at CT State Asnuntuck. The professor also serves as the Early Childhood Education and Human Services Coordinator and Mental Health Mentor.

LaLiberte said it was imperative that if she agreed to do the book that it be affordable for students and she said they did that. LaLiberte announced that she is already working on a second edition of the textbook.
