Dead Body Found in Vehicle Near Enfield Pond

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield police detectives are conducting an investigation in a wooded area near St. Martha's Pond after a citizen called to report a dead body inside a vehicle.

Late Tuesday morning, police were dispatched to the woods across Washington Road from the pond. A body of a male which has sustained "severe decomposition" was discovered inside a vehicle, Deputy Police Chief Gary Collins said.

A representative from the state medical examiner's office is expected to arrive shortly to assist with the investigation, Collins said.

No further information was immediately available.
