The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

Continue as the Chairman of the DPW and work closely with town staff to complete consolidation of town buildings and upgrades and renovations.

Having our staff cross trained has proven to be a strong benefit to Enfield and I want to continue these type of forward thinking ideas in my next term.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

As a life long Enfield resident and business owner and farmer, I have dedicated myself to Enfield’s success and want taxpayers to receive the services they deserve.

My Town Council experience resulted in improved roads, sidewalk and infrastructure repairs for District 1 and a stable budget.

I am a firm believer in working with Town Staff to find efficiencies to ease the tax burden on residents. Together, the Town Council and Staff has provided Enfield residents with excellent services at a fair tax rate by effectively utilizing technology, recycling, and energy efficient options.

The renovation to "new " to both the high school and middle school, and consolidation of all pre-school programs into the Stowe Learning Center is a shining example of we can accomplish when we work together. These accomplishments make Enfield attractive to new families.

Accomplishments:

As the chairman of public works, one accomplishment was getting the tipper barrel-recycling program running with no additional funds from our budget. I found a way and didn’t cost any more money. We got the trucks we needed, the barrels and starting teaching the residents how to recycle. This program has saved the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars and didn’t increase the budget. After 5 years all the trucks are paid for and the service is fully implemented.

We are now in the process of re-writing the recycling program because of the escalating cost of trash disposal. Since trash and recycling is becoming a very expensive service for our town, we must find a way to keep the cost as low as possible.

I am also proud of the blight ordinance and blight committee, and the completion of the WPCA upgrades and especially the cross training of staff which has made our DPW run smoother and more efficient.

Other issues:

When the Governor threaten Enfield and cut our municipal aid a few years ago, the Republican Council worked on finding ways to make a balanced budget, this could have been the moment when Enfield would have been put behind the “eight-ball.” That didn’t happen. Why? Because the Republican-led council made sure to tighten it’s budget more and not use our fund balance to balance the budget.

Today our fund balance is strong. Our bond rating is AA+ allows us to bond at very low rates. We live within our means and stay focused on programs that are self-sustaining – like the Eagle Academy or the potential Police Department expansion.

During my next term, I want to keep working on new ideas and programs and maintain our budget to be sure Enfield will continue to be a thriving community.

A top priority expanding for me is our economic development efforts, and bringing new jobs and new businesses to Enfield and continue the revitalization efforts in neighborhoods.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I have been a Dist. 1 Councilman for 14 years and have found it to be a very rewarding experience. I want to continue working for my neighbors and keep Enfield moving forward for future families.

I have served as chairman of the Public Works Committee and Public Safety Committee. I have been an active volunteer for the Four Town Fair as a Director for many years and I am a local farmer but the most important thing I do is being Papa to my four grandchildren – the best job a man can have!
