The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Finishing the many already underway projects that when completed, we hope will improve the quality of life for all of our residents of all ages & as well as for their children and grandchildren alike. We plan to finish the upgrades to the JFK Middle School, extend the walking path from Town Farm Rd out to Broadbook Rd, hoping to add lights to the pickle ball courts at Mark Twain, opening the walking park at Town Hall, opening St. Adalbert’s gym, starting improvements to the Town transfer station, building brand new girls softball field in the spring at Brainard Park, opening the new basketball courts at Lafayette Park & Alcorn School, and and continuing our First Time Homeowners program throughout the entire town. These represent a sampling for what I would hope to accomplish over the next two years.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
Speaking only for myself; what I bring as The Mayor is passion, calmness, a sense of humor, and an unwavering commitment to the Town of Enfield. Every single day, I aim for personal continuous self improvement so that I strive for humility & work at being a better human being than I was the day prior. I believe that our residents are generous people with kind hearts. Although we may disagree from time to time, and I believe we all want what is best for the Town of Enfield.
Accomplishments:
Over the past two years, the Enfield Town Council has successfully held or maintained a flat mill rate without having a tax increase. While concurrently within our town budget, still being able to address many capital upgrades & improvements on both the town & school infrastructure. We will continue to finely balance affordability for our residents with addressing our facilities, roads, parks, roofs, and and capital improvements all throughout town.
Other issues:
Most of the ongoing projects are structured around improving our residents quality of life. I personally believe that improving our parks, creating CT River access, creating more walkways, bike paths, & open space with our continued commitment to improving blight all across town will enhance Enfield as an even more desirable town to live, & to raise your families within. Over the past few years, we have accomplished this in many different ways as examples; we created a new job position that is located at the Senior Center who’s job function is for helping our seniors navigate through Medicare & the many other insurance complexities seniors may encounter. The Town of Enfield also fully funds within our budget, the Senior Tax Credit for those seniors who may qualify for assistance. The Town Council also covers the funding for the School Resource Officers ( SROs). We also just hired 4 full time resident police officers who will patrol Thompsonville, and as well as opened the Police Sub-station that is located within the back of the Enfield Express. The Enfield Town Council also budgeted for two electric powered town vehicles this past budget cycle. I believe improvement of our quality of life is a key part of economic development.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
It’s been an honor to serve the residents of Enfield as the Mayor over the past 4 years! Much has been accomplished however I am even more motivated to finish ongoing projects, opening the train platform in Thompsonville, & to start other improvements that may be conceptual at this time but are very close to happening such as re-building the walking bridge/ fishing pier across the CT River. Enfield is a great town because of our residents, and I would be honored for the opportunity to serve another term as Mayor! Sincerely, and Mayor Mike Ludwick
