The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

It is my observation that children being forced to wear a mask all day and vaccines being forced on our teachers, bus drivers and other educational staff is over the line of our liberties. There is a real concern for the physical and psychological effects the mask mandates are having on the children long term.
When mandates to shorten the curve were initially implemented, bus drivers were basically out of business, and had to find other work to sustain them. The teachers went above and beyond adapting to the new virtual environment, to continue to provide the children with an education. Now to be told teachers will be fired if they don’t comply with getting a vaccine, and I find discriminatory and really to be put bluntly a kick in the teeth to those who stood by under incredible circumstances.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I am a serious and focused person and took every opportunity to better myself in my life from my military career, in the US Navy, with a rank of E2 and rates of fireman and then disbursing clerk (military payroll); to my education from Asnuntuck Community College, Community College of Rhode Island where I got my Associates of Science in Accounting. I finished my college education at Bryant University Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Administration, Accounting and Psychology. Then started my successful accounting business. I have an educational background in Child Development phycology and will utilize it to better understand the issues our children are facing in school. The world is such a different place today and the educational system has changed, and the curriculum has changed and parent’s participation in the process has changed. I want to help guide those changes for the betterment of all participants.
I want to help the parents and children of Enfield – and serving on the BOE will give me that opportunity.

Accomplishments:

My successful accounting business of 22 years, and in-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting such as bookkeeping, taxes and consulting and training in QuickBooks. My previous volunteer activities as Treasurer for Phi Theta Kappa, Pi Omicron Chapter and Pi Omicron Alumni. Driving the school bus for North Providence Boys and Girls Club and currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Enfield chapter of BNI (Business Network International).
As a single mom, I have raised a self-sufficient, independent, productive, and contributing member of society – my son. I have gone from welfare to owning my own business. I have taken every opportunity available to expand my education and be part of a productive society. I have experience working with many types of people and my experience in the Navy groomed me to see the world with the eyes of “what will be done.” I will work with parents and listen to their concerns and do my very best to help them get solutions and I will guide our superintendent to focus on those parent needs. I’m ready to be the voice of the Enfield parents and taxpayers.

Other issues:

I plan on doing my best to keep our curriculum focused on our children’s needs and if there are opportunities to expand the STEAM educational training to support them in their careers and life choices after leaving the Enfield school system and I would focus my attention in that direction.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I believe money may be better spent on things that promote the goal of graduating students who are independent, self-sufficient, productive, and contributing members of our society. Our children are our future and I want to do whatever necessary to make them successful.
