The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

One of the most pressing issues facing the Board of Education at this time is the effect Covid has had on student learning, student mental health and the budget. As we receive Covid relief funds, and we must make sure the remediations we make to help our public schools are sustainable for the long-term. I will listen to our education leaders and support their efforts based on their knowledge of the needs of the students as well as advocate to make sure the changes are sustainable and effective.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I am an active stake-holder in Enfield Public Schools. Two of my three kids who attended Enfield Public Schools have graduated and my youngest still attends. I believe that parents need to feel they have a listening ear and a voice to represent them. I have a proven track record of standing up for what I believe in and fighting for ALL students and families and staff in Enfield Public Schools. Political parties should have no place in education decisions.

Accomplishments:

My past experience working on the High School Pre-Referendum Committee, the Finance Committee, the Joint Insurance Committee, and the Joint Facilities Committee and most importantly the Leadership Committee. I believe the knowledge base from those committees as well as being a parent brings a great wealth of knowledge and experience to help in fair policy making and communicating to parents.

Other issues:

My fellow candidates and I believe in the importance of making sure all Enfield residents are valued, heard and represented. We support smart fiscal spending that promotes economic recovery through transparency and collaboration. We will stand with Enfield families, and students and staff and include them in decision making. A strong education system supports a thriving community.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I feel my experience as a parent is an extremely valuable asset to bring to the Board of Education. I get to see daily what is happening at the schools and I can be a voice for the parents and students. I also communicate with parents regarding school events, sporting events, and regular school communications. Not only do I spend my time volunteering for the Board of Education, I spend my time volunteering for other school groups such as Safe Grad and the Grid Iron Club. Having two students who graduated and one still attending, I have been able to be a part of the education journey from kindergarten to graduation. I believe having strong community involvement outside of the board is integral in the success of a Board Member. I have a deep love and respect for the town of Enfield, the families, and students and staff that live and work here.
