Enfield Alumnus Wins Pitcher of the Week Award in MAAC

For the second time in his college career, he was honored as the pitcher of the week in the Division I conference.

Former Enfield High School baseball standout Justin Thomas is off to a fantastic start in his senior season at Quinnipiac University, winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week honor for the season’s opening week.

His pitcher of the week award is the second of Thomas’ career; he first copped the honor on Apr. 7, 2015 during his junior season.

Thomas had a stellar start in the opening weekend for the Bobcats as he shut down the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Feb. 28 to earn his first win of the season and 11th of his career. The lefthander pitched seven innings, including five innings of no-hit ball, before ending the game with just two hits allowed. Thomas allowed two runs, only one of which was earned, while striking out three batters and walking just one.
